School nurses' work focuses directly on three areas: health services, health education, and the school environment. Their services require diverse knowledge including, but not limited to, pediatric/adolescent health, infectious diseases, mental health, chronic diseases, and emergency care. They can influence health and safety aspects of schools and can provide leadership to a district's or campus' coordinated school health program that in addition to health services, health education, and the school environment addresses mental health and social services, nutrition services, physical activity, family and community involvement, and/or staff health promotion. This work is written for school nurses as a quick reference on the many issues they encounter in their practice, and to assist them, their administrators and consulting physicians to develop consistent evidence-based policies and procedures for safe student care.

Aim: The aim of the study was to examine the orientation learning needs of adjunct clinical faculty as they transition from expert clinicians to novice educators. Background: Schools of nursing are increasingly using adjunct clinical faculty because of the nurse faculty shortage. Retention is a concern. Method: This descriptive quantitative study used the Needs Assessment Survey for Topic Inclusion in a Guide to Orientation. Adjunct clinical faculty rated the level of importance of orientation topics and if they received needed information. Results: The majority of topics were found to be rated very important or important. Several items deemed very important or important were either not discussed or not sufficiently discussed in orientation. Conclusion: The information obtained demonstrates the vast amount of information that adjunct clinical faculty want and need in an orientation. © 2019 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins.

In an effort to address obesity at an early age, the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN), developed the Muevete USA project. Muevete USA (from the Spanish verb for to move) features five lesson plans on healthy lifestyles for children and their families. This article describes Muevete USA, the partnership with a local school of nursing, the implementation of the program at the local level and the emerging program and student outcomes of a successful partnership.
