'Rauisuchia' comprises Triassic pseudosuchians that ranged greatly in body size, locomotor styles and feeding ecologies. Our concept of what constitutes a rauisuchian is changing as a result of discoveries over the last 15 years. New evidence has shown that rauisuchians are probably not a natural (monophyletic) group, but instead are a number of smaller clades (e.g. Rauisuchidae, Ctenosauriscidae, Shuvosauridae) that may not be each other's closest relatives within Pseudosuchia. Here, we acknowledge that there are still large gaps in the basic understanding in the alphalevel taxonomy and relationships of these groups, but good progress is being made. As a result of renewed interest in rauisuchians, an expanding number of recent studies have focused on the growth, locomotor habits, and biomechanics of these animals, and we review these studies here. We are clearly in the midst of a renaissance in our understanding of rauisuchian evolution and the continuation of detailed descriptions, the development of explicit phylogenetic hypotheses, and explicit palaeobiological studies are essential in advancing our knowledge of these extinct animals. © The Geological Society of London 2013.

Among language testing researchers, the notion of fairness has accumulated a number of complex, technical definitions over the years. However, since the word has such a widespread, everyday usage, consulting a dictionary can be a good starting-point for discussion. For example, YourDictionary.com (2011) states that to be fair is to be “just and honest,” “impartial,” and “unprejudiced,” specifically, “free from discrimination based on race, religion, sex, etc.“Merriam-Webster (Mish et al., 2003) states similarly that fairness is “marked by impartiality or honesty” and is “free from self-interest, prejudice, or favoritism.” As this volume deals with second/foreign/other language testing, it would seem appropriate (or perhaps one should say, fair) to include a dictionary definition crafted for L2 learners, as is this one from Cambridge (Walter et al., 2006): “Treating someone in a way that is right or reasonable, or treating a group of people equally and not allowing personal opinions to influence your judgment.”. © 2012 Selection and editorial matter, Glenn Fulcher and Fred Davidson.

Physical mistreatment has been estimated to affect 2 million older persons each year and dramatically affects health outcomes. While researchers have attempted to examine risk factors for specific forms of abuse, many have been able to focus on only victim or perpetrator characteristics, or a limited number of psychosocial variables at any one time. Additionally, data on risk factors for subgroups such as persons with Alzheimer's disease who may have heightened and/or unique risk profiles has also been limited. This paper examines risk for physical violence in caregiver/patient dyads who participated in the Aggression and Violence in Community-Based Alzheimer's Families Grant. Data were collected via in-person interview and mailed survey and included demographics as well as measures of violence, physical and emotional health, and health behaviors. Logistic regression analysis indicated that caregivers providing care to elders with high levels of functional impairment or dementia symptoms, or who had alcohol problems, were more likely to use violence as a conflict resolution strategy, as were caregivers who were providing care to elders who used violence against them. By contrast, caregivers with high self-esteem were less likely to use violence as a conflict resolution strategy. Significant interaction effects were also noted. © 2013 Carla VandeWeerd et al.

The ideal user of scientific and technical information: shall we design one? The positive personality traits one would wish for in a spouse would do nicely for a start: patient; thoughtful; caring; able to see our (the librarians') virtues through the fog of early-morning not yet-wakefulness or late evening exhaustion; able to communicate needs and wants clearly and without a lot of emotional overtones; willing to work hard to obtain desired results; and apprecia tive of what We (librarians) do. Add to this other talents which, while useful, are less often associated with marriage: the ability to understand and retain complex organizational details; patience with less-than-perfect systems; an intuitive understanding of how information is organized; and a sense of how best to cope with the inter-face between the deluge of possible information resources and the limited needs of one particular user (not to mention limited capacities for retaining and controlling that information flood once the gates are open). © 1991 by The Haworth Press, Inc. The Lane Medical Library staff, working with a physician at Stanford University Medical Center, has developed a successful end user MEDLINE training program. 80th DIALOG and the National Library of Medicine’s (NLM) MEDLARS system are taught. Upon completion of the NLM course, students are eligible to receive academic credit and an NLM password. Several factors are identified as having been crucial to this success: (1) a strong working alliance between library staff and an enthusiastic physician, (2) early and ongoing support from influential leaders in the medical center, (3) minimization of barriers confronting potential end user searchers, and (4) strong emphasis on demonstration and hands-on practice. A successful Software maintenance process depends on three factors: the maintenance goals, the technical properties of the system and the people performing the software maintenance. Most of the current work to investigate software maintenance only considers the first two factors, ignoring the third factor, which limits the scope and accuracy of these approaches. In this paper, we use change theory to introduce a deeper understanding of the software maintenance process. We utilize three change theories: Lewin's, Prochaska and DiClemente's, and Lippit's theories to introduce three different software maintenance models. These models consider the three success factors and incorporate contextual information to help maintainers better understand the software maintenance task to bring about an effective change.

Introduction: Like medicine, public health practitioners seek to understand causes of mortality, practices of humans and issues that can change population conditions, in order to preserve and care for life. The murder pandemic has been such in Jamaica that the World Bank sponsored a qualitative study on crime in urban areas in Jamaica in the late 1990s to provide a platform to guide policy intervention and programmes. As a result this study will fill the gap in the literature by providing the evidence to support that divorce and marriage are public health concerns from the perspective of murders. Objective: To evaluate the role of divorce and marital relationships on murders. Materials and methods: The data for this study are taken from various Jamaica Government Publications. The period for this work is from 1950 through 2013. Data were recorded, stored and retrieved using the Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows, Version 21.0. The level of significance that is used to determine statistical significance is less than 5% (0.05). Ordinary least square (OLS) regression analyses and curve estimations were used to determine models and best fitted models. Results: On average, annually, 523 Jamaicans are murdered (± 484), with there being 9,531 marriages (±22,747) and 904 divorces (±468). Logged marriage rate and divorce rate are factors of murder rate, with both independent factors accounting for 82.2% of the variability in the murder rate. Both factors are positively correlated with the murder rate, with the divorce rate accounting for most of the variance in the murder rate (R2 = 79.2%). Conclusion: Death can be extremely devasting to families, however, murder among married couples can severely disrupt the lives of both families along with any children from such relationship. © 2014, Chevron Publishing Corporation.
